Black Jacket Golf Tournament

Once upon a time on Kiawah Island, a handful of friends from Dallas (the "OG’s") were sitting around a table on the late great Ed Lloyd’s patio, drinks and cigars in hand, talking sh-t, and somebody said, “What if we had our own golf tournament?” This was in 2003. And someone asked, “But what would we call it? It’s got to have a name…” And someone else said, “How about the Black Jacket… Augusta has the Green Jacket for the Masters...so we’ll just call ours The Black Jacket!” And the congregation said, “Amen”. 2004 marked the first year of the official Black Jacket Golf Tournament. No one knew at the time that this Black Jacket thing would take on a life of its own. Almost every time it was described to a new prospect, the response was, “So how do I get invited?” Over the years, the size of the field has grown from roughly 10 to more than 36 players. Winning the Black Jacket itself has become the Holy Grail for a remarkable collection of brothers.
